You don’t have to go far to find magic here. FAU is packed with amazing locations for graduation portraits. And they each bring their own personality.
Here are some of my favorite spots to shoot:
The Breezeway – It’s not just iconic, it’s the spot. This long, covered walkway is a symbol of student life at FAU. The shadows and light play beautifully in photos. It gives depth, lines, and a little drama (in a good way).
The FAU sign – You know the one. Right by the main entrance, it’s bold, bright, and makes a statement. Perfect for the classic cap toss or a group shot with your crew. Want something to send to the grandparents? This one hits.
Live Oak Pavilion and the nearby green spaces – Super chill, super pretty. If you want relaxed, candid shots under the trees with that soft Florida sunlight, this is the place. Plus, there’s space to move around and capture a few walking shots or sitting-in-the-grass moments.
Engineering East – Yes, this one’s for my architecture lovers. Clean lines, glass walls, and modern textures. The contrast between the sharp building and your cap and gown? Chef’s kiss.
Palm tree courtyards – You can’t go wrong with a few portraits surrounded by tall palms and bright skies. It screams Florida. And when the wind catches your hair or the tassel on your cap? Pure magic.
FAU Stadium – Big, bold, and open. Whether you’re a sports fan or just want something dramatic, the stadium is a power move. You can keep it classy or go all out with a celebratory champagne shot.
The light matters
FAU is sunny. All the time. Which is awesome but also something we plan around. Early mornings give us soft, flattering light and cooler temps. Golden hour (that hour before sunset) is dreamy and warm and makes everything glow. Those are my go-to times for photos. Midday sun can be tricky, but there are plenty of shaded spots across campus to make it work. I’ve shot in every lighting condition here, so no stress, I’ve got you.
Make it personal
The best graduation photos are the ones that feel like you. FAU has plenty of spots that work great, but don’t be afraid to suggest somewhere that’s meaningful to your experience.
